The dining table is the piece of furniture where a home comes together, and the only one that is used every day yet is expected to be representative. Eichholtz dining tables achieve this through their tops: oak veneer with vertical grain, marble, travertine, or faceted glass, supported by frames in brushed brass, bronze, or antique brass. This page organizes the assortment according to the four questions that truly matter when purchasing a table: shape, size, material, and delivery to your home.

First the size, then everything else
Allow 60 to 70 centimeters of table edge per place setting and approximately 40 centimeters of depth. A rectangular dining table of 240 centimeters comfortably seats eight people; 300 centimeters is sufficient for ten to twelve. More crucial than the tabletop is the space around it: 90 to 100 centimeters between the table edge and the wall, so that the chair can be pushed back and someone can still pass behind it. Below 80 centimeters, every evening becomes an exercise in dodging.
The table height in the assortment is almost consistently between 74 and 78 centimeters. The extendable models are deliberately higher at 80 centimeters, which is important when choosing chairs >> Eichholtz extendable dining table.
The shape determines the space, not the style
Round is the sociable shape: everyone sees everyone, and there are no corners in the way. Up to about 140 centimeters in diameter, conversation across the table remains possible; beyond that, the group tends to split into two halves >> round dining tables.
Oval and freeform accommodate the length of the room without creating corners. This is the shape for narrow dining rooms and for layouts where the path leads past the table >> oval dining tables.
Rectangular makes the most efficient use of space and is the easiest to extend. In the class from 240 centimeters upwards, it is practically the only shape that still works >> large dining tables.

Tabletop: Stone, Wood or Glass
Our range offers four ways to achieve a stone look, and they behave quite differently in everyday use. Real marble is open-pored and reacts to acid, travertine comes with its natural pores, ceramic with a marble look is acid-resistant, and artificial marble is more affordable. What this means for red wine, lemon, and coasters can be found on the material page >> Eichholtz Dining Table Marble.
The majority of tabletops are veneered wood, predominantly oak in washed, mocha, or anthracite tones, along with walnut, ash, and burr veneer. For tabletops three meters long, veneer is not a budget solution but rather the dimensionally stable option >> Eichholtz Dining Table Wood.
Base: where the legs stand, guests do not sit
A central pedestal or a continuous trestle leaves the ends free and allows for an extra chair to be placed at the table if needed. Four corner legs look calmer but block precisely the spots required for larger meals. Therefore, before ordering, please check not only the tabletop dimensions but also the distance between the legs. Finishes range from brushed brass to bronze and antique brass to brushed copper, each coordinated with the tabletop color.
Chairs, Lighting, and what stands next to it
Dining chairs fit if there are 27 to 30 centimeters between the seat and the bottom edge of the table. Armrests must be able to slide under the tabletop, otherwise the chair will permanently protrude into the room. The chandelier hangs 75 to 85 centimeters above the tabletop, its diameter being half to two-thirds of the table's width. A serving trolley or a wine cabinet within reach saves a dozen trips to the kitchen each evening.
Delivery Time and Path into Your Home
Some tables are available from stock and will be with you in seven to ten days; models from ongoing production require four to six, and in individual cases, ten to twelve weeks. Dining tables are always shipped by freight carrier, not as a parcel. Please measure door width, staircase, and elevator beforehand: a 300-centimeter tabletop cannot be turned, and the turning radius in the staircase is the most common unpleasant surprise >> Delivery times in detail.
Frequently Asked Questions
How large should a dining table for eight people be?
Rectangular, approximately 240 centimeters long by 100 centimeters wide. A round table is no longer sufficient for this; a sensible round table ends at six people with a diameter of around 140 centimeters.
What is the height of an Eichholtz dining table?
Usually 74 to 78 centimeters. The extendable models are slightly higher at 80 centimeters, where you should also check the chair.
Is a veneered tabletop less valuable than solid wood?
No, for long lengths, it is the more durable solution. Solid tops react to the room climate and can warp over three meters; a veneer on a stable substrate remains straight and shows a consistent grain pattern.
