London apartments are rarely generously proportioned, but often tall, narrow, and spread over several floors. A Victorian townhouse and an apartment in a mansion block place different demands on furniture than a new build. This page shows what works there and what needs to be considered when delivering to Great Britain. Casa Luxury delivers to Great Britain.
Narrow Floor Plans, High Walls
In a classic townhouse, wall space is the true asset. A tall wall mirror above the fireplace, a series of framed wall art, or a group of picture frames bring order to the room without taking up floor space. On the floor, the opposite applies: prefer a narrow sofa and two armchairs over a wide seating landscape, complemented by side tables that can be easily moved.
Light in Rooms with Limited Daylight
Many London living spaces face north or overlook a narrow courtyard. Ceiling light alone appears flat there. Wall lights in a consistent rhythm elevate the wall, a chandelier above the dining table creates a focal point, and warm light sources at table height transform a dark room into a serene one. Where a workspace is integrated into the living area, a desk with its own lamp defines this zone.
What Needs to Be Clarified Before Ordering
- Stairwell. Narrow spiral staircases and low intermediate landings are the most common reasons why a piece of furniture cannot enter the apartment. Measure the narrowest point, not the door.
- Listed building. For listed buildings, structural interventions for ceiling installations require approval. Freestanding luminaires are then the safer option.
- Parking and delivery. In many boroughs, the forwarding agent needs an exemption to stop. The appointment should be set well in advance.
Delivery to Great Britain
- Shipping Zone. Great Britain is in our Europe non-EU zone. Rates are staggered by weight and can be found on the Shipping Costs and Delivery Times page.
- Import. Since leaving the EU, Great Britain is a third country. Import tax and, if applicable, customs duties are incurred upon import and are borne by the customer. Shipping documents are included with the shipment.
- Transit Time. Freight shipments to Great Britain take longer than deliveries within the EU due to customs clearance.
Shipping to London
We deliver to London. The price depends on the shipping weight, which for furniture is calculated from dimensions and packaging. Zone: Europe outside the EU. The prices are gross prices.
| Shipment | Shipping Costs |
|---|---|
| Parcel up to 31.5 kg | €45.90 |
| Freight up to 150 kg | €219.00 |
| Freight up to 300 kg | €273.00 |
| Freight up to 600 kg | €364.00 |
Freight goods are delivered curbside. This means: to the curb in front of the address, not into the apartment and not into the room of installation. If you require delivery to an upper floor, please arrange it locally; this page provides information on what to consider.
Import: Great Britain is outside the EU. In addition to shipping costs, customs duties and import VAT are borne by the recipient. With preparation, this extends delivery by a few days.
The complete table with all weight categories can be found under Shipping and Delivery, and the timeframes under Delivery Time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Casa Luxury deliver furniture to London?
Yes. Great Britain is located in our European shipping zone outside the EU. Parcel goods and freight shipments are possible, the costs depend on the weight.
Are import duties incurred for deliveries to Great Britain?
Yes. Since leaving the EU, Great Britain is a third country. Import tax and, if applicable, customs duties are borne by the customer; the shipping documents are included with the shipment.
What to do if the stairwell is too narrow?
Before ordering, measure the narrowest point, not the door. If a piece does not fit through there, we will look for an alternative with a shallower depth or a model that is delivered disassembled.
