Candlelight is the only light source that moves. It transforms an illuminated room into an evening, and it costs less than any luminaire. At the table, a strict rule applies: either significantly below eye level or significantly above. Anything in between forces guests to talk around the flame. Hurricane lamps from 15 to 25 centimeters are the safe choice; tall candlesticks only work from about 45 centimeters upwards. Safety and Everyday Use
Open flames require 30 centimeters of clearance upwards and to the side, away from curtains, shelves, and anything hanging. Stable, heavy holders do not tip over, which is more important on a coffee table with a glass top than any design. Brass can be polished with a soft cloth; warm water is better than scratching for removing wax residues.
