The Right Locations

Height and Distance
The usual height is 150 to 165 centimeters above the floor, measured at the center of the light. Next to the bed, it sits lower, approximately 55 to 65 centimeters above the mattress, so that the light falls to the side. In the hallway, the distance between two lights is about 180 to 250 centimeters. Next to the mirror, the lateral distance to the mirror edge should be approximately 20 centimeters.
Choosing the Light Direction
Lights that shine upwards and downwards create two cones of light on the wall and appear vibrant. Closed shades direct the light downwards and are more practical for reading. Models with swivel arms are the most flexible solution by the bed, as the light can be rotated to the side. Warm white at around 2700 Kelvin remains the correct light color here as well.
What Needs to Be Clarified in Advance
Wall lights require an outlet in the correct position. If one is missing, models with a cable and plug or a neatly routed cable duct are alternatives. Clarify the position before drilling with adhesive tape on the wall: only when standing in the room will it become apparent whether the height is suitable for the bed, mirror, or artwork.
