Introducing The Met x Eichholtz Chinnery dresser, a distinctive piece of art-inspired furniture.

This elegant dresser nods to one of the great landscape traditions of the British Romantic period. The deep charcoal brown oak veneer evokes the brooding hills and shadowed valleys of a landscape painting, while bronze detailing catches the light. Inspiration

The Chinnery Dresser was inspired by a watercolor by George Chinnery (British, 1774–1852), now part of The Met collection. Painted during Chinnery’s years in Bengal, India, around 1808–12, the artwork captures cattle resting before mountain peaks rendered in golden washes. The middle ground is pierced by a glowing point of fire and plumes of drifting smoke.
