The Met x Eichholtz presents the Side Table Verney. Finished in antique silver, this table is a celebration of decorative tradition reinterpreted through a modern lens. Its sculptural form and intricate silhouette are rooted in the opulent furniture styles favored by the English and French aristocracy. The Side Table Verney captures the same sense of prestige and artistry in a contemporary material expression.

Inspiration

This piece draws inspiration from a silver baroque stand created in England in 1724–25 for the wealthy couple George Bowes and Eleanor Verney. Unlike other English examples of silver furniture, which were typically made of wooden cores with sheets of embossed silver, the Museum’s exceptional table boasts cast-silver components. The Side Table Verney celebrates this lavish craftsmanship.
